WARSAW: Stefan Kraft of Austria dominated the weekend as he collected two gold medals in both individual and team events at the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup in Zakopane, Poland.

Kraft led Austria to a team gold on Saturday together with Michael Hayboeck, Manuel Fettner and Jan Hoerl ahead of Slovenia and Germany.

In the individual event on Sunday, 30-year-old Kraft led after the first round with a 1.9-point advantage over compatriot Jan Hoerl and 4.8 points ahead of third-ranked Anze Lanisek of Slovenia.

Kraft’s 134m jump in the second round secured a decisive victory with a total of 332.3 points. Germany’s Andreas Wellinger improved from sixth place after the first round to claim the silver medal with 327.8 points, while Lanisek earned the bronze with 327.3 points.

This win marked Kraft’s 37th victory and 109th podium finish in the overall World Cup, passing Finn Janne Ahonen’s previous records of 36 and 108.

“To be at the top of this list alone is something really special, something really nice. To consistently collect so many podiums over so many years is amazing. I’m a bit speechless,” said Kraft.

The Austrian now leads the Cup standings with 1,089 points, ahead of Wellinger and Japan’s Ryoyu Kobayashi.
