LG inspects Yamuna rejuvenation project

New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Sunday inspected the HLC-monitored Yamuna rejuvenation project from Signature Bridge to ITO Barrage.

LG inspected 11 kms from Signature Bridge to ITO Barrage stretch of Yamuna on completion of first phase of HLC-monitored Yamuna cleaning operations, LG tweeted on its official twitter handle.

“Happy to share, significant improvement on key parameters in Yamuna with removal of 1200 MT of garbage from Yamuna since works started on Feb 12,” he tweeted.

The second phase will commence today

with focus on transformation through cleaning of Yamuna banks and desilting of midstream muck. The cleaning of Najafgarh drain has also yielded desired results in terms of BoD level coming down significantly on an year on year basis, LG tweeted.

“Participation of society at large has certainly made an encouraging difference. Testimony to it is that 30 motor boats could simultaneously cruise through the river for 11 km between Wazirabad and ITO,” LG tweeted.
