Maha: 7050 nominations valid, 917 invalid in 287 assembly constituencies

Mumbai: As many as 7050 candidate nomination papers were found valid during the scrutiny process held on Wednesday across 287 assembly constituencies out of 288, and 917 candidate papers found invalid.

Out of 27 candidates in Nagpur West Assembly Constituency, 22 applications were declared valid, while 4 applications were declared invalid.

The scrutiny of the application of one candidate from this constituency has been postponed until October 31, informed the state chief electoral officer through a media statement on Thursday morning.

It may be noted that 7995 candidates filed their 10,995 nomination papers till the last of filing nominations on Tuesday in 288 constituencies.

During the scrutiny process, which was conducted on October 30, applications of 7050 candidates have been declared valid, while the applications of 917 candidates have been declared invalid, they added.

The process of withdrawal of nominations will come to an end on November 4, and campaigning will start the next day in the state.

Multicornered fights will be witnessed across the state.

Main fights will be seen in Mahayuti and Mahavikas Agadhi.

Apart from it, MNS, Vanchit Agadhi, AIMIM, BSP, and Mahaparivatran Agadhi, among several smaller parties, fielded their candidates in the poll arena.

Single phase polling will be held on November 20, and counting of votes will be held on November 23.
