Maha Agriculture minister reviews IT initiatives

MumbaiL Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde suggested that the Departments of Agriculture and Information Technology (IT) should work in coordination to deliver the benefits of various state government schemes to farmers.

Presiding over a meeting held on Thursday in Mantralaya to review the IT initiatives implemented by Agriculture department, he said that the IT department can play a significant role in directly conveying the benefits of various state government schemes to farmers.

He further said that 27 schemes of Agriculture department are running through MahaDBT portal and so far, 34 lakh farmers have been registered and 1.02 crore have applied for various schemes.

Through which, information of farmers, their land and cropping patterns has been collected by the government, the minister informed.

He also gave important suggestions to Agriculture department emphasising to increase the number of beneficiaries as compared to applications received.

He continued that first priority should be given to applications that come in first, priority be given to benefits distributed to farmers, approval should be given to all completly filled up applications, benefits should be given according to available funds and immediate action should be taken to stop the lottery system, he added.

Munde reviewed the technical process of Department of Agriculture’s various schemes such as MahaDBT Portal, MahaKrishi Mobile Application and Web Portal, CropSap, CropWatch, Agricultural Input Sales Licence Distribution System, Farmer Database Agtistack Project, MahaAgriTech, Rainfall Measurement and Analysis, E-Thibak, E-Sile 3.00, Namo Shetkari Maha Samman Nidhi.
