Mandeep Kour visits Kulgam; Inaugurates, inspects RDD projects

Srinagar : Commissioner Secretary, Rural Development Department (RDD) and & Panchayti Raj, Mandeep Kour, today visited Kulgam and inspected and inaugurated several development projects being executed by Rural Development Department in the district.

During her visit to flood protection bund at Aadigatnoo and Zungalpora, she was informed that these flood protection bunds have been constructed in convergence mode with an estimated cost of 5.85 crore, and will protect several villages from stormy floods of River Veshow.

Commissioner Secretary, during her visit to Checkpora panchayat, inspected newly developed playfield and Amrit Sarovars at Chekpora panchayat. She also inaugurated Solid Waste management shed in the panchayat.

Commissioner Secretary was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Bilal-Mohi-Ud-Din-Bhat, Director RDD Kashmir, Shabir Hussein Bhat, SSP Sahil Sarangal, ADDC, Showkat Ahmad Rather, ACD, ACP and other officers.

Later, Commissioner Secretary visited D K Marg Block where she inaugurated newly constructed playfield at village Sarmarg Sanyadi which has been constructed with a cost of 18 lakh.

At D K Marg, she also presided over PMAY-G registration camp to oversee ongoing registration of beneficiaries. She also interacted with locals and PRI members and listened to their issues and demands.

While addressing on the occasion, she said that J&K UT has received additional PMAY-G houses and special camps are being conducted to complete the process of registration and sanction of cases by 30th June and completion of houses by 31st March, 2024.

Deputy Commissioner informed that implementation of schemes is being monitored closely by the district administration.

During her visit, Commissioner Secretary also inaugurated two Block Development Office buildings at D K Marg and Pombay. She was informed that both the buildings were constructed by RDD with a cost of Rs 51 lakh.

Later, Commissioner Secretary chaired a meeting with PRI members at mini-secretariat and listened to their issues and demands.

She apprised the PRIs of the additional allotment of PMAY-G houses and urged upon them to make sure that the beneficiaries get registered in their areas/ Panchayats.

DDC Chairperson, Mohammad Afzal Parrey, DDC Vice Chairperson, Shazia Jan and other DDC members and PRIs participated in the meeting.
