Modi announces Rs.2 lakh ex gratia for each Ganjam accident victim

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced an ex gratia of Rs.2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased in odisha’s Ganjam bus tragedy.

At least 12 people, mostly members of a marriage party, were killed and eight others injured when a mini bus carrying them had a head-on collision with a state government bus on Sunday midnight near Ganjam district’s Digapahandi .

Modi tweeted “Pained by the bus accident in Ganjam district in Odisha. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones”.

Maybe the injured recover soon, the Prime Minister said and announced an ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s relief Fund to the next kin of each deceased. The injured in the accident would be given Rs.50,000, the Prime Minister said.

Odisha Chief Minister had also announced an ex gratia of Rs.3 lakh each to the next kin of the deceased in the bus accident and free treatment of all those injured in the accident
