Passenger detained for raising bomb scare alert in London-bound flight

Kolkata: A passenger, suspected to be mentally unsound, was detained on Tuesday at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport here for unnecessarily raising a bomb scare alert in a London-bound aircraft.

Airport sources said that the incident took place at around 3.39 a.m. when a London- bound aircraft of Qatar Airways via Doha was just about to take off. One of the passengers then suddenly started shouting claiming that a bomb had been planted inside the said aircraft.

The passengers were brought down quickly and a thorough search was conducted with police dogs.

After finding nothing suspicious, the Qatar Airlines flight took off from Kolkata around 9 am.

According to airport sources, the family of the passenger said that he is mentally unsound.

The CISF is interrogating the youth.
