Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) has stated that the people of Telangana are deeply dissatisfied with the Congress government.

Speaking at a party workers’ meeting of Sirpur Kagaznagar held at Telangana Bhavan, here on Saturday, KTR claimed that Congress leaders are facing public outrage. He alleged that whenever Congress leaders go among the people, they are confronted and humiliated. Even Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, he said, cannot step out without heavy police security.

Taking a sharp dig at Revanth Reddy, KTR remarked that if anyone else faced the level of public humiliation that the Chief Minister is enduring, they would have been unable to bear it. He stated that the people are expressing their anger towards the Congress party using every possible insult in the Telugu language.

KTR further criticised the Congress administration, questioning what drives the party to govern so recklessly. He claimed that Revanth Reddy himself has realized that the Congress government is all talk and no action. He also asserted that there is strong opposition to the Congress party in every corner of Telangana.

Continuing his attack, KTR accused the government of prioritizing land disputes over the welfare of the poor. He alleged that 450 policemen were deployed to a village in Kodangal for a mere 140 acres of land, acting on the Chief Minister’s orders, while ordinary citizens were left homeless as Revanth Reddy continued demolishing their houses and shops.

Highlighting the contributions of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), KTR recalled that for 10 years, KCR implemented numerous welfare and development programs with the well-being of the poor in mind.

He expressed his gratitude towards the dedicated party workers who travelled 400 kilometres to attend the meeting, stating that their commitment to the party was invaluable. He expressed confidence in his party’s comeback, asserting that while the sun may be temporarily hidden behind clouds, KCR would soon return to power with the blessings of the people.

KTR also spoke about his long-standing association with Sirpur Kagaznagar, reminiscing about his efforts between 2006 and 2009 to strengthen the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS, now BRS) in the region. He pointed out that in 2009, their party won the Assembly elections there, successfully hoisting the pink flag in Sirpur Kagaznagar at a time when BRS had only ten seats across the state.

Discussing local industries, he emphasized his special connection with Kagaznagar and his relentless efforts to reopen the Kagaznagar Paper Mill. He recalled traveling to cities like Mumbai and Kolkata to meet with companies and negotiate with JK Paper to resume operations, demonstrating the BRS government’s commitment to reviving industries in Telangana.

Slamming party-switchers, KTR dismissed those who change parties for power, stating that BRS does not need to waste time discussing opportunists. He praised RS Praveen Kumar for stepping forward to strengthen BRS, adding that Praveen Kumar shares his vision for Telangana’s development. He also criticised Revanth Reddy for abandoning many opportunities that could have benefited the Bahujan community, while RS Praveen Kumar firmly believed that their development could only be achieved under KCR’s leadership.

KTR criticised the Congress and BJP MPs from Telangana, arguing that despite electing eight MPs from each party, Telangana had gained nothing. He stated that when the Center refused to grant national status to the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, not a single Congress or BJP MP raised their voice. He asserted that if BRS had a stronger presence in the Lok Sabha, they would have fought for it.

Referring to the state of Gurukul educational institutions, KTR pointed out that when KCR initiated reforms, RS Praveen Kumar responded effectively to the challenges. However, he claimed that the Congress government only acted hastily for publicity, failing to bring real change. He lamented that student suicides and distress in Gurukul institutions continued unabated due to the lack of genuine reforms.

Urging party workers to strengthen BRS, KTR called on them to work hard to ensure a massive victory for their candidates in the upcoming local body elections. He emphasized that the future of Telangana depended on their collective efforts.

Senior BRS leader RS Praveen Kumar, along with constituency leaders and party workers, participated in the meeting.
