PM to launch railway projects in Kerala

Kochi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of three railway stations in Kerala on Thursday.

The estimated total cost of the redevelopment of Ernakulam junction (Rs 445 crore), Ernakulam Town station (Rs 226 crore) and Kollam station (Rs 388 crore) is Rs 1,059 crore, an official statement said.

Modi will dedicate, inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for the railway infrastructural projects.

The projects include the doubling of 27 km of the Kuruppanthara–Kottayam-Chingavanam section completed at a cost of Rs 750 crore.

The entire 634 km stretch from Thiruvananthapuram to Mangaluru will be fully doubled, promising faster and seamless connectivity for the travelling public.

Devotees bound for Sabarimala can alight at Kottayam or Chengannur and proceed by road to Pamba.

Modi will also dedicate to the nation the newly electrified section between Kollam and Punalur completed at a cost of Rs 76 crore.

The Prime Minister will also flag off special train between Kottayam-Ernakulam and Kollam–Punalur
