Bengaluru: In response to alleged threat calls received by him from the BJP, Karnataka Congress MLA and former Minister Priyank Kharge has said not a single ruling party worker will be allowed to set foot in his Chittapur assembly constituency.

“If we resolve, we will not allow even one BJP worker to enter our constituency. Not only in Chittapur constituency, we will not allow them to set foot in Kalaburgi district also. Do you want such an environment in the district?” he told reporters.

“I have received threatening calls from BJP, but remained silent. If they target our party workers in the district, I will not remain a silent spectator, but take law into my hands,” Kharge added.

This remark comes in the wake of BJP pasting Kharge’s posters across the Chittapur taluka with a “missing” caption.

On Tuesday, the BJP had pasted posters in Chittapur stating that the Congress MLA is missing for the last one-and-a-half months amidst pending developmental works and clearances, and if someone finds him he must be sent to his constituency.

This controversy is the fallout of the “SayCM” campaign, a part of a larger anti-corruption campaign, launched by Kharge against Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Both the parties — BJP and Congress — have been entangled in poster war, levelling allegations against each other over the issue of corruption.

The Congress launched the poster war a month ago with the “PayCM” campaign against the “corruption-hit” Bommai government.

In retaliation, the BJP launched the “Sacm Ramaiah” campaign showcasing various scams that took place during the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government from 2013 to 2018.
