Reward on Shaista Parveen raised to 50k: Police

Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh police have raised the reward on the arrest of Shaista Parveen, wife of mafia-turned-politician Atique Ahmed, who is accused in advocate Umesh Pal murder case to Rs 50,000, police sources said here on Saturday.

Police sources said earlier a reward of Rs 25,000 was announced on Shaista, who is absconding after the murder of Umesh Pal and his two gunners. Notably, Umesh Pal, who was the main witness in Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Raju Pal, and his two gunners were arrested on February 24.

A case was lodged against Atique, his wife Shaista, brother Ashraf, two sons and nine others for murder and other charges. On the basis of CCTV footage the police are carrying out raids to arrest Atique’s son Asad, Arman, Ghulam, Guddu Muslim and Sabir. Two of the shooters involved in murder case Arbaz and Vijay alias Uman Chaudhary have already been killed in the police encounters.

Shaista had filed an application for anticipatory bail in the MP-MLA court which was rejected on Thursday.
