Stalin inaugurates VietnamEV giant’s Vinfast E-vehicle facility

Chennai: In a major boost to industrial development in southern districts, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will inaugurated Vietnam EV giant Vinfast’s Electric Vehicle (EV) facility
at Thoothukudi today.

The state-of-the-art VinFast factory is situated in the Thoothukudi Sillathatham SIPCOT area, spanning 114 acres.

The foundation stone for the manufacturing plant was laid by Mr Stalin in February 2024 within a month after inking MoU at the Global Investors Meet in January 2024.

The factory marked a crucial step in boosting Tamil Nadu’s position in the electric vehicle manufacturing sector.

The company would be investing Rs 16,000 crore in the facility which would create 3,500 jobs.

The state-of-the-art plant would have a capacity to produce 1.50 lakh E-vehicles annually with 50,000 vehicles in the first Phase of production.
