Mumbai: A special task force of specialist doctors was formed in the state to tackle Covid and new variant JN-1 virus fresh patients across the state, informed Public Health Minister Prof. Dr. Tanaji Sawant.
To control the increased number of patients during the first wave of Covid-19, a special task force of specialist doctors was formed in the state on Tuesday, the press statement said.
Once again the number of patients of Covid-19 is increasing in the state. Also, patients of JN-1 type of corona virus are increasing. This task force needs to be reconstituted in view of such increasing patient population.
Accordingly, the task force has been restructured and a new task force has been established, said Prof. Sawant.
This task force was chaired by former head of ICMR, Delhi Dr. Raman is Gangakhedkar. Also Vice Chancellor of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik Lieut. General Dr. Madhuri Kanitkar, Director, Directorate of Medical Education and Research, B.J. Medical College, Pune. Dr. Suresh Karkarte, Navle Medical College Pune. (Physician) Dr. Varsha Potdar, Navle Medical College, Pune. D. B. Kadam is the Member, while the Commissioner, Health Services will be the Member Secretary. A government decision has been issued in this regard on Tuesday evening.
Tasks include establishing patient management protocols for critically ill Covid-19 patients, recommending the need for specialist physicians and healthcare support staff in Covid-19 critical care hospitals, recommending appropriate medication protocols to maintain uniformity in treatment of critically ill Covid-19 patients, added Prof. Dr. Sawant.
