Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reedy instructed the officials concerned to take necessary measures to generate power to meet the growing demand in the state.
Steps should be taken for solar power generation at all vacant unused lands owned by various departments, Reddy, who conducted a review on Energy Department with officials, said here on Wednesday night.
Measures should be taken to encourage farmers to generate solar power by distributing solar pump sets to the farming community free of cost, said the CM.
Ordering the officials to launch a pilot project in Konda Reddy village, he asked the officials envisage plans to help the farmers generate income from surplus power from the solar pump sets.
Take steps to promote solar cylinder systems in place of cooking gas. The CM also asked authorities to provide training to women groups and encourage them to take up the solar cylinder business, he said forest lands can also be used for solar power.
Directing the officials to make available 40,000 MWs of power every year, he asked the officials to come out with proper plans to reduce excess expenditure.
Find a permanent solution for the overload problem, he said that uninterrupted power supply should be given top priority.
Build confidence among the consumers on 24-hour quality power supply and ensure that the consumers do not face any problems, he said.
Telangana State will emerge as the most sought after ‘Business Hub’ in the future, and adequate power will be made available to meet the future demands, he said.
The government will prepare an action plan in coordination with the IT and Industries Departments, and steps will also be initiated to increase the use of solar power, he added.
