Port Louis/New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today that if there is one country in the world that has a right on India, it is Mauritius, and there are no limits to the bilateral relationship.
In his remarks during the banquet hosted by his Mauritius counterpart Navinchandra Ramgoolam, PM Modi said:
“There are no limits to our hopes and aspirations towards our relations.
“In future, we will continue to collaborate for the prosperity of our people and the peace and security of the entire region.”
PM Modi remarked that the people of Mauritius have chosen Navinchandra Ramgoolam as their Prime Minister for the fourth time.
“Last year, the people of India chose me to serve them for the third consecutive time.
“And, I consider it serendipity, to get an opportunity to work with a senior and experienced leader as yourself during this term,” he said.
He remarked that the partnership between the two nations is not limited to the historic relations. “It is based on shared values, mutual trust, and a common vision of a brighter future. Your leadership has always guided and strengthened our relations.”
“India takes pride to be a trusted and valued partner in the development journey of Mauritius,” the PM said.
Earlier, the two PMs held bilateral talks.
The PM said in a post on X:
“Had an excellent meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam this evening. Thanked him for inviting me to be a part of the National Day celebrations of Mauritius and also his special gestures through my visit. I expressed gratitude to PM Ramgoolam for Mauritius’ decision to confer upon me the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean.”

“PM @narendramodi held productive talks with PM @Ramgoolam_Dr of Mauritius, reaffirming the strength of the India-Mauritius partnership. PM thanked PM Ramgoolam for the highest civilian award of Mauritius, G.C.S.K (Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean) to be bestowed on him tomorrow.
“The leaders reviewed bilateral relations, ongoing collaborations & explored new avenues to elevate our special bond to even greater heights. PM affirmed that India was proud to be a valued and trusted development partner for Mauritius & the two countries would work together for promoting the interests of the Global South.”
