Hyderabad: Train services were disrupted as 11 bogies of a goods train carrying iron coils derailed between Raghavpuram and Ramagundam in Peddapalli district of Telangana on Tuesday night.

The derailment occurred as the goods train, travelling from Ballari in Karnataka to Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, passed through the area.

The accident has caused a halt in train operations along the Delhi-Chennai main railway line, with trains stopped in both directions. Express, superfast, passenger, and goods trains have been stranded at various points along the line.

Railway personnel arrived at the site promptly after receiving the report. According to railway officials, the restoration of train movement may not resume until Wednesday morning, as clearing the derailed bogies from the tracks requires time. Passengers are experiencing significant delays and other difficulties due to the interruption in train services.

In response, railway authorities have cancelled or diverted several trains affected by the derailment.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has spoken with South Central Railway General Manager Arun Kumar Jain, urging prompt action to minimize inconvenience for passengers.

Railway authorities assured that efforts are underway to restore normal operations by Wednesday morning.
