On Monday, December 11, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), ended the looming suspense over who the new chief minister of Madhya Pradesh will be. It was on December 3 that the BJP registered a landslide victory in the state. Three-time Ujjain South MLA, Mohan Yadav, has been designated as the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. Apart from this, the state will also have two deputy chief ministers, Jagdish Devda and Rajendra Shukla.

After being designated as the new MP CM, Yadav said, ‘I am a small worker of the party. I thank all of you, the state leadership and the central leadership. With your love and support, I will try to fulfil my responsibilities.’

The Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Speaker will be Narendra Tomar.

It was in 2013 that Yadav became an MLA for the first time from the Ujjain Dakshin (South) seat, and in the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Assembly election, he was once again elected and became the MLA from Ujjain Dakshin. Mohan Yadav was also the minister of education in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet.

The decision to make Yadav the chief minister of MP was taken during the legislature party meeting held in Bhopal, that was attended by 163 newly elected BJP MLAs, and the party’s three central observers, who were Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, party OBC Morcha President, K Laxman, and party National Secretary, Asha Lakra.
