Agartala: Trinamool Congress’s Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev has wrote to Director General of Police (Tripura) Amitabh Ranjan demanding an investigation into the presence of a huge number of motor bikes in Agartala with the registration number of Uttar Pradesh.

She smelled that the ruling BJP has brought a large number of motorcycles in the state from Uttar Pradesh, which will be used for terrorising the voters and creating trouble during upcoming election to Tripura assembly barely after four months.

“I am writing to you to bring to your notice that to the best of my information several two wheelers are being bought by BJP and transported into the state having registration of Uttar Pradesh. I have apprehension that given the past record of Tripura the motor-cycles will be misused during assembly polls,” Dev underlined.

She told media on Tuesday that in last four and half years of BJP’s rule, Tripura has witnessed relentless violence, attacks and atrocities on the opposition supporters and the common people by the motor-bike borne rowdies hired by BJP.

Not only during elections, they were used for vandalising party offices of opposition, attacking the houses of the people whoever criticised the misrule of BJP, murderous attacks on TMC General Secretary Abhishiek Banerjee and other top leaders. The rallies and meetings of all the opposition parties were attacked by motorbike driven anti-social elements, Dev pointed out.

Earlier, Trinamool Congress had to move court seeking direction against the deteriorating law and order situation of Tripura and the high court directed the Chief Secretary to submit a report but, even then no one was arrested yet, Dev stated.

She added that the dismal scene of Tripura’s law and order was reflected in the report of National Crime Record Bureau 2021, which indicated Tripura a state with the highest number of cases of political violence.
