US citizens advised to avoid demonstrations in B’desh: Embassy

Dhaka: In wake of Bangladesh 12th National Parliament elections, the US Embassy in Dhaka has advised US citizens in Bangladesh to exercise caution. The country’s embassy has advised them to avoid protests at this time.

On Sunday, the warning given on the website of the US Embassy under the title of ‘Demonstration Alert’ stated that national elections will be held in Bangladesh on or before January 2024. Due to this, political programs and protests can now be seen more.

The embassy said all US citizens in Bangladesh should follow the advance warning in view of the possible situation.

Although such protests are supposed to be peaceful, they can sometimes lead to chaos. So US citizens are advised to be cautious.

Avoiding public gatherings and protests, being aware of your surroundings, watching local media regularly, keeping a charged mobile phone with you at all times for emergency communication, and following the advice are requested.
