The number of EV sales in 2022 reached the mark of 10 lakh, which is more than 3 times as compared to in 2021. The government, in the recent economic survey, has projected that the number of electric vehicles in the country by 2030 will go beyond 1 crore, and along with this, the direct and indirect jobs related to this is also expected to move above 5 crore. The experts associated with EV and the hiring sector believe that the EV sector of the country can emerge as a major source of employment for India.

Back in 2013, only 2693 electric vehicles were sold in the country, and in 2022, this number increased to 9, 99, 949, which shows that during this period, the sales of EV has increased at a rate of 80.71% annually.

Now, it is the aim of the government that by 2030, the share of EVs in the total sale of vehicles reaches 30%. With the increasing number of vehicles, a large ecosystem of original equipment manufacturers and component companies will get formed, and lakhs of new skills will be required in the fields related to the same.
