On Monday, taking to Twitter, Rahul Gandhi questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘silence’ over the recent drug busts from Gujarat. In a tweet in Hindi, the former Congress Chief asked Modi as to how was the state of Gujarat witnessing ‘an ease of doing businesses for the drug cartel. Calling Gujarat, the ‘holy land of Gandhi and Patel’, he further questioned how drugs worth thousands of crores was reaching the state.

Accusing the state and central governments of being hand in glove with the drug mafia, Rahul asked as to who were the people sitting in the government, providing protection to their ‘mafia friends’. Questioning government agencies like the NCB, he asked why they were not able to nab the ‘narcos’ running the cartels in the state.

Rahul Gandhi’s questions came up following a series of different raids which had recently taken place in Gujarat by the Gujarat Anti-Terror Squad and Mumbai’s Anti-Narcotic Cell, near Vadodara and Ankleshwar respectively.

Which is being called one of the biggest drug hauls in the state, dry drugs along with liquid Mephedrone, also called MD or Meow Meow worth Rs. 2, 151 crore was seized by the raiding agencies, informed DSP KK Patel.

225 KG of dry Mephedrone was confiscated from a warehouse called Nectar Chem, Savli, Vadodara. The drug was being manufactured in a factory in Dahej of Bharuch district and was stored at the warehouse for transportation and distribution to drug traffickers.

Meanwhile, 513 KG of Mephedrone was caught after the raid at a manufacturing unit in Ankleshwar. Allegedly, the owner of the manufacturing unit, Giriraj Dixit has ties with the drug mafia in Mumbai and with another co-accused, had perfected the formula for Mephedrone production through experiments.
