Till now, the spread of the lumpy virus disease in Rajasthan has led to the death of 60, 000 cows, with more than 13 lakhs getting infected. Now, during the festive season, a crisis of milk has emerged in front of the dairy organizations of the state, and it is surprising that despite this situation, there is no shortage of milk, cottage cheese and khoya. Thousands of litres and KGs of milk, khoya, and cottage cheese is being supplied in hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and marriage functions. The biggest question which arises here is that how has supply not been affected despite shortage of milk?

Cannons Organization and Dainik Bhaskar got 200 samples of milk from Jaipur’s milk markets, milkmen, and private dairies, tested from a reputed agency, after which it was found out that out of the 200 samples, only 5 were potable. The other samples did not perform well as per the food safety act norms. The failed samples had no minerals, calcium or vitamins, and high levels of acidity were found in them. 2 out of 50 samples of khoya and 3 out of 50 samples of cottage cheese passed the test. These samples included the samples of 3 reputed dairies supplying milk in the city, out of which one sample failed, and the other 2 were not adulterated. The dairy whose milk failed to pass the test supplies the least amount of milk when compared to other private dairies.
