In Britain, preparations to control the increasing number of foreign students are being made, and the direct impact of this development can be felt by Indian students. After the USA, the number of Indian students is augmenting in the UK. This year, visas were given to 1, 27, 731 Indian students. As per the report of Britain’s Office of National Statistics, this is the highest across the globe, and as compared to 2019, this number has gone up by 273%. China is on the second spot.

According to the recently issued Open Doors report 2022, the number of Indian students going to the USA in 2022-23 can cross that of China, because this year, in between June August, 82 thousand visas were issued to Indian students. Nevertheless, this achievement can pose problems for Indian students in the future as far as going to Britain is concerned. Looking at the constantly increasing number of foreign students in Britain, the country’s Rishi Sunak-government is preparing a policy to come up with strong solutions.

As per reports, the British government can impose a ban on foreign students, except those applications which are accepted by top universities, which will lead to the management of admission in top universities, and the visas offered to the relatives of the students (dependants) can also be controlled. The total migration has crossed the 5 lakh mark, and it is being believed that if the prohibitions are implemented, then Indian students will be the most affected.
