IRCTC registers as first service provider over SCR to launch Bharat Gaurav trains

Hyderabad: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), South Central Zone has registered as first service provider over SCR Zone to launch the Bharat Gaurav trains.

Bharat Gaurav train service, which has been launched by Ministry of Railways with an objective to showcase our country’s rich cultural heritage by connecting magnificent historical and pilgrim places of the country through rail, will soon be launched across South Central Railway Zone.

A SCR release on Thursday said a formal meeting has been organized at Rail Nilayam, SCR Headquarters and G. John Prasad, Principal Chief Commercial Manger, SCR has received performance Bank guarantee of Rs one Crore on behalf of SCR, from D. Narasingh Rao, GGM, IRCTC in the presence of R.Dhananjayulu, Principal Chief Operations Manager, SCR.

K. Padmaja, Chief Commercial Manager (Passenger Services), SCR and D. Satyanarayana, Chief Passenger Transportation Manager, SCR were also present on the occasion.

The Commercial Wing of SCR had put continuous marketing efforts to launch Bharat Gaurav trains from South Central Railway.

In this regard, the SCR Officials have explained in detail about the tourism customer base of SCR and the benefits of operation of Bharat Gaurav trains from the Zone.

The operation of Bharat Gauarav trains will be beneficial to IRCTC, Railways as well as rail passengers intending to visit several historical and pilgrim places at one go, the release said.

Accordingly, IRCTC has shown keen interest and came forward to launch the Bharat Gaurav train service from SCR.

The Bharat Gaurav Train to be launched by IRCTC will cover various tourist destinations in a pre-defined circuit providing diverse experience to the passengers. Further, this service will be available in different classes to meet the travelling requirements of the public.

The itinerary and other details will soon be announced by the IRCTC.

The Bharat Gaurav scheme provides an opportunity for an individual, partnership firm, company, society, trust, joint ventures and consortium to get registered online through www.indianrailways.gov.in for being a service provider.

After registration, online demand can be placed specifying coach composition along with submission of Performance Bank Guarantee of Rs.one crore. This Bharat Gaurav scheme will create a new era in tourism through Rail.

SCR General Manager Arun Kumar Jain expressed his happiness and opined that this will be a game changer in the Tourism sector.

He appealed to other operators who are interested in operating tourist trains to utilise this opportunity and come forward to associate with SCR.
