Many people usually go for sugar-free sweeteners as we all know that having too much sugar is not good for health. But in 2021, when researchers studied the food items being sold in Hong Kong, it was discovered that not only in chewing gums and cold drinks, sweeteners were used in items like salad dressings, breads, instant noodles, and in many crisps, and these have become a regular part of our diets. Advantame, a sweetener used in the USA is 20, 000 times sweeter than sugar.

The three most important reasons of not having or having less sugar is that it increases weight, second, it is unhealthy for those suffering from diabetes, and third, it causes tooth decay. According to a website of the International Sweeteners Association, patients suffering from diabetes use sweeteners because it is believed that they do not affect the blood sugar levels. And in order to reduce weight, people use sugar-free sweeteners because they do not have calories.

At the same time, opposite to sugar, they do not cause tooth decay as well. Nevertheless, as per a report from the WHO, excessive use of sweeteners can become the reason for type-2 diabetes and heart-related ailments, and can also lead to weight gain. Also, having the sweetener called stevia daily can cause tooth decay in children as well.
