More than 100 coaches of the Vande Bharat trains are about to be ready at Perambur’s integral coach factory (ICF), and after the chair cars, sleeper coach trains are also about to hit the railway tracks. Their designs are ready, and the board’s approval is awaited. The objective is to develop 115 Vande Bharat trains in the next two years, out of which 75 are chair cars, and 40 are sleepers. S Srinivas, GM and Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, ICF, has stated that all the trains will be developed in the next two years, and after April, they will also be manufactured in Kapurthala and Raebareli.

Currently, there can be seen huge stacks of parcels carrying the parts, right in the front of the factory, which signifies that the work of manufacturing the trains is being carried out tirelessly. Here, hundreds of engineers and technicians are busy working every day, from 7.30 AM to 2 AM. A complete rack can be seen standing at the final testing unit, wherein experts are teaching the pilots the method of operation.

It is noteworthy that in these trains, even if the pilot forgets to apply the brakes, sensors will automatically do the same, which will lead to the reduction of the chances of human mistakes. With the emergency talk system, the traveller will be able to talk to the pilot directly. And even on running trains, there will be peace similar to that in an office cabin, with less than 70 decibels of sound.
