Belagavi: The Karnataka Congress on Wednesday kickstarted its statewide Praja Dhwani Yatre, a bus tour, by Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar, who are heavy contenders for the CM’s post.

The tour was flagged off after paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Veer Soudha, a memorial where Mahatma Gandhi had presided over the 1924 Congress session held at Belagavi.

The tour will cover 21 districts to woo the people by assuring them all-round development in the state and simultaneously highlight BJP government’s misrule by sharing a chargesheet it has drafted.

Both Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah will travel in the same bus until January 29. After the tour, two separate teams would be formed, with one led by Siddaramaiah and another by Shivakumar.

Siddaramaiah will tour Assembly constituencies in north Karnataka region, while Shivakumar southern districts.

Speaking to reporters here, Siddaramaiah said the tour will place before the people a charge sheet against the BJP government in the state. “We will highlight the BJP government’s corruption, misrule and hate politics. If anyone questions, they are being intimidated with false cases and arrests,” he said.

Caling BJP government a curse to the state, Shivakumar said scandals have become the order of the day, and to erase it, his party has taken out the yatra. “People need good administration,” he said.

AICC General Secretary In-charge of State Randeep Surjewala, and senior leaders including campaign committee chief MB Patil, were among others present.
