The country’s automobile industry is witnessing fast-paced changes. The companies’ focus in the auto-expo organized in New Delhi was to provide customers with cheap and advanced fuel options, other than electric vehicles (EV). In the meanwhile, the customers too, appeared to be willing to pay more. Some companies showed such engine systems, which, when fit into petrol or diesel driven cars, provide the option of using any one of hydrogen, bio-diesel, ethanol, CNG, or LNG, to run the vehicle.

A lot many optional technologies related to engines were presented at the expo. Dozens of such battery electric vehicles were presented which are not concept or prototypes but production models, which means these vehicles can hit the roads in the next few years or even in this year. Apart from full electric vehicles, some advance hybrid technology vehicles were also shown, which included self-charging technologies and plug-in hybrids.

Other than this, some companies also presented hydrogen combustion engine models, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and flex-fuel models as well. The launching of vehicles run on only petrol or diesel was limited though. 114 vehicle manufacturing companies and 800 companies producing parts took part in the show.
