On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the ‘Jal Jan Abhiyaan’ in Rajasthan, with the mission’s objective being water harvesting, planting trees, and making people aware about the same. The PM started off with the mission virtually at the Brahma Kumari’s organization in Mount Abu. PM Modi said that this mission is being launched at such a time when the shortage of water is being seen as a crisis all over the world.

Under the mission, 10 thousand programmes will take place all over the country in a span of 10 months, during which, 5000 reservoirs, wells, and stepwells will be developed. The programme was attended by Union Jal Shakti Minister, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

PM Modi also added that the concept of not wasting water and using it judiciously has been a part of India’s spiritual sphere and religion for thousands of years, and therefore, we consider water to be God and consider nature to be our mother. He stated that it is essential to instill this awareness and the principles about saving water among the countrymen once again.
