Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Monday said that Shaista Parveen, wife of mafia-turned politician and former MP Atique Ahmed, will be expelled from the party once she is proved guilty in the murder of Umesh Pal, the main witness in BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case.

Mayawati tweeted, “Information regarding FIR against Atique Ahmed’s sons and wife in the murder of Umesh Pal, the main witness in Raju Pal murder case which took place several years back in Prayagraj, and his gunner has been published.”

It may be noted that Atique Ahmed’s wife Shaista Parveen had recently joined the BSP and the party was preparing to field her for the mayoral election from Prayagraj.

She said, “Taking serious cognizance BSP has decided that Shaista Parveen, wife of Atique Ahmed, will surely be expelled from the party once she is proven guilty in the ongoing investigation in the matter.”

Mayawati has also hit the Samajwadi Party on the issue. “It is well known that Atique Ahmed is the product of SP, from which party he had been the MP and MLA, and now Raju Pal’s wife has also left BSP and joined SP, the party she used to blame as the main culprit. Therefore, it is not right to do any politics under its guise.”

She said, “Besides, it is well known that BSP does not punish any innocent member or person of the society for any crime, but it is also a reality that the party does not promote criminal elements of any caste or religion.”

It may be noted that Umesh Pal, the main witness in the murder case of BSP MLA Raju Pal, and his gunner were shot dead on February 24. In this case, the police has registered a named FIR against seven people including Atique Ahmed’s wife and his two sons.
