In every 6 minutes in Britain, a private jet is taking flight. The number of private jets taking flight in Britain in the last 1 year has gone up by 75 percent to 90, 256. These private jets emit around 5 lakh tons of carbon dioxide, which the highest as compared to all the other European countries. In a research conducted by Dutch environmental consultancy CE Delft, it has been found out that the highest number of flights took off between London and Paris, and 3, 357 private jets took flight on this route.

As per transport and environment studies, private jets lead to 14 times more pollution that common flights, while in comparison to a train, it is 50 times more. At the same time, 50 percent of the pollution caused by aero planes across the world is caused by only 1 percent of the population. Regarding the people who use private jets for traveling, Greenpeace, working towards increasing pollution, has said that some distances to be travelled were so little that they could easily have been covered by train. And some places could be reached even riding a bicycle for just 30 minutes.

Out of all the private jets flown in Europe, 39 percent covered very less distances as compared to the 500-KM norm. Normally, private jets create too much of pollution and are pointless in many scenarios. Rather than flying private jets, people can easily travel on trains or even on bicycles, which are cheaper and pose lesser threat to the environment.
