Chennai: A day after DMK Organizational secretary RS Bharathi issued a notice to BJP Tamil Nadu Unit President K.Annamalai for releasing the assets of top rung DMK leaders, the latter today slapped a notice on the’ former for making baseless allegations against him.
In the notice to the DMK leader seeking response in 48 hours, Mr Annamalai said “Mr Bharathi, who met the press the day before yesterday, made baseless false accusations against me that I had received Rs 84 crore bribe from Aarudhra private firm (which was charged with duping nearly one lakh investors to the tune of Rs 2,400 crore promising higher interest for investments).”
“I demand a compensation of Rs.500 crores and Re one for making baseless allegations against me and the BJP”, he said, adding, he would send this amount to the PM CARES Fund.”
“Within 48 hours, if you do not provide an explanation for the baseless allegation leveled against me and my party, I would like to inform you that legal action will be initiated against you with utmost diligence”, Mr Annamalai said, in the notice.
“Also, I am informing you that the reply to the legal notice sent by you and the legal notice seeking compensation for making baseless allegations will reach you soon,” he said.
Mr Annamalai also reiterated his allegation of corruption against Chief Minister M.K.Stalin having received kickbacks as mentioned in the first part of the “DMK Files’ released on April 14.
It may be noted that yesterday, DMK issued a legal notice to him demanding Rs 500 crore damages and tender an unconditional apology within 48 hours.
In the notice, Mr Bharathi demanded that Mr Annamalai should forthwith tender an unconditional, public apology for his speech/ allegations made on April 14, 2023 in the press conference and the video titled “DMK Files” by publishing the same prominently in any national English newspaper and regional Tamil newspaper, all national and regional TV channels, as well as on your social media pages.
Mr Bharathi also demanded him to pay damages to the tune of Rs 500 crores, which he intended intended to pay it to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Ffund.
The notice also said “if you failed to do so within 48 hours of receipt of this notice, our client will be constrained to initiate appropriate civil and criminal proceedings against you and your properties, holding you personally liable for all costs and consequences arising therefrom”.
