Low pressure area forms over Southeast Bay of Bengal: IMD

Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area has formed over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Andaman Sea at 0830 hrs on Monday, IMD said,

It is likely to intensify into a depression on May 9 over the same region and further into a cyclonic storm over southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining areas of East Central Bay of Bengal & Andaman Sea on May 10.

IMD sources said the cyclonic storm is likely to move initially north-northwestwards and then towards eastcentral Bay of Bengal till May 11 .

Thereafter, it is likely to recurve gradually and move north-northeast wards towards Bangladesh-Myanmar coasts.

Meanwhile, basing on the IMD forecast, the Special Relief Commissioner(SRC) officer here said the day temperature is likely to rise further by 2-3 degree celsius during the next two days in Odisha .

Consequently, day temperature is likely to be 40 degree Celsius or above over a few districts of the state during the next four to five days and hot and uncomfortable weather is likely to prevail during the period.

The government had issued an advisory to the people asking them not to move out during the day in view of the possible heat wave conditions in some parts of the state .
