G20 SUMMIT: Y20 consultation, LG called upon youth to create productive harmony

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday called upon the youth to ensure ideas to create productive harmony between nature and human.

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Y20 event at University of Kashmir. Under the framework of G20 Presidency, the Department of Youth Affairs, Government of India is organizing Youth 20 Summit-2023. The event is being organised ahead of the G20 Tourism Working Group meeting in the summer capital later this month.

Lt Gov addressed the Y20 Consultation on ‘”Climate Change & Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability a Way of Life” at Kashmir University where he called upon youth to ensure ideas to create productive harmony between nature & human are translated into action & it contribute to a better world.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon the global community to transform the effort of tackling climate challenge into a mass movement and promote an environmentally conscious lifestyle.

“I firmly believe under the leadership of Hon’ble PM, India will guide the world in building a sustainable society that will both be an economic powerhouse and a major contributor in restoring the delicate balance of Nature”, Lieutenant Governor said in a tweet.

Advisor to LG, J&K, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Director, Youth Affairs Pankaj Kumar Singh, and Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir Prof. Nilofer Khan also attended the function.

Experts from the fields of climate change, environmental activism, disaster management and Rural and Urban Development including Dr Julia Osterman, Post-Doc Fellow from University of Gothenburg, Sweden; Dr Robert Pal, Associate Professor and the Director of Restoration at Montana Technological University, USA; Dr Akhilesh Surjan, Charles Darwin University, Australia; Dr Maikudi Danasabe Lawa, Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria, would deliberate on the theme in the different panel discussions to be held during the Consultation.

A similar event was organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs in the Ladakh Union Territory on April 28.
