The spokesman said that an order to this effect has been issued by Principal Secretary Sanjay Prasad.

“Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed to give additional charge of DGP to Vijay Kumar, a 1988 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer,” he said.

It may be noted that a 1988 batch IPS RK Vishwakarma took over as the officiating DGP on March 31.

He was appointed as the officiating DGP till the time a permanent posting was not made on the post. He is due to retire in May this year.

It may be mentioned that after DS Chauhan he was the second IPS, who was appointed as the officiating DGP of the state.
