Four killed, 8 injured as cab falls into gorge in J&K’s Rajouri

Jammu: Four passengers were killed and eight others injured when a cab they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge near Thanamnadi in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, police sources said on Wednesday.

Police said that a cab ferrying 12 passengers on the intervening night of July 4 and July 5 fell into a gorge on the Thanamnadi–Bhangai road.

The police, upon receiving the information, immediately swung into action and started the rescue operation.

“Three passengers died on the spot, while one succumbed to injuries during treatment at Sub-District Hospital Thanamnadi,” the police added.

They further said that eight injured passengers were shifted to GMC Associated Hospital, Rajouri.

The deceased were identified as Shamim Akhtar (55), Rubina Kouser (35), Zarina Begum (38), and Muhammad Younis (38), all residents of Bhangai.

The police have registered a case and taken cognizance.
