Kolkata: West Bengal ruling All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) has sought Delhi Police permission to hold a dharna involving workers from the state who have been allegedly denied wages under the MGNREGA scheme at Krishi Bhavan on October 2 and 3, 2023.

Leader of AITC’s Parliamentary Party, Rajya Sabha, Derek OBrien, in a letter on September 6 to the DCP of Parliamentary Police Station, pointed out that his earlier letter dated August 31, 2023, seeking permission was yet to be confirmed.

He also requested an update from the police officer at the earliest possible time. The proposed dharna is from 10 am to 6 pm on both October 2 and 3.
