Rajahmundry: Film actor turned politician and Jana Sena chief K Pawan Kalyan has confirmed the Telugu Desam party and Jana Sena alliance and announced that the two parties would contest together in the next elections.

Pawan Kalyan, flanked by TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh and Hindupur TDP MLA N Balakrishna met former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the Central prison here on Thursday.

Later, addressing the media, Pawan Kalyan made a sensational announcement stating that he had decided to align with the TDP and both the parties would together contest in the next elections.“My objective is to ensure that the anti-YSRCP votes will not split. That is why the TDP and the JSP will align and contest in the next elections,” Pawan Kalyan.

Making it clear that he is now in the BJP led NDA, Pawan Kalyan said “I strongly believe that the BJP can understand the worst political situation and the anarchy prevailed in AP and join with us. I will explain the AP political situation to the BJP leadership. I hope the BJP may join with the TDP-JSP alliance,” Pawan Kalyan hoped.

Pawan Kalyan said that he had differed with Chandrababu Naidu previously on the policy matters only but he did not underestimate Naidu’s Vision 2020 or his integrity. Naidu had brought the then US president Bill Clinton and Microsoft Bill Gates to Hyderabad in his efforts to create Cyberabad city, Pawan Kalyan lauded.

“But now, it is imperative to both the parties to fight against the YSRCP anarchic rule to save Andhra Pradesh. People of the state are fed up with the YSRCP regime as there is no development and creation of jobs,” he lashed out.

Referring to the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan expressed anguish over seeing ex-Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who created the Cyberabad city near Hyderabad in the Central prison.

“Naidu is a statesman while the present AP Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is an economic offender,” he slammed. “I will inform the Prime Minister about our concerns on Naidu’s security in the Central prison,” the film actor turned politician Pawan Kalyan said.

The Jana Sena chief has been ambiguously indicating on the TDP-JSP alliance for the last one year. The announcement of Pawan Kalyan confirming the TDP-JSP alliance has given a big twist to AP politics.

It may be mentioned here that the TDP-BJP-JSP alliance contested in the 2014 elections and came to power by defeating the Jagan Mohan Reddy headed YSRCP. However, the Jana Sena and TDP contested in the 2019 elections separately and both the parties tasted a debacle as the TDP won only 23 MLA seats and three MP seats while the JSP won only one MLA seat.
