Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh): In a scathing attack against dynasticism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleged on Saturday that the Congress detests him and his dispensation’s welfare schemes because that party feels tormented by the fact that a member of a backward caste assumed the Prime Ministerial mantle.

Addressing the BJP’s Parivartan Mahasankalp Rally in this district headquarters of election-bound Chhattisgarh, the visiting dignitary quipped, “They had reserved the PM’s chair for themselves. On the pretext of targeting me, the Congress abused the underprivileged. That party harbours only hatred for the indigent, the dalits and tribal folk.”

Without naming erstwhile Congress President Rahul Gandhi, the Prime Minister said that a certain individual refuses to learn a lesson despite a verdict by the judiciary.

“The Congress opposed the elevation of Mr Ram Nath Kovind and then of Mrs Droupadi Murmu to the nation’s highest constitutional office. Mark my words, that opposition was not ideological in nature.

The Congress has an age-old mentality of being unable to digest the advancement of a dalit or a backward-class person. In that party, only those who attend the durbar of a particular family can move ahead,” Mr Modi added.
