New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday alleged that the way names of AAP leaders are emerging in corruption cases shows that corruption is now a common thing in the party.

“The Party, which had promised to add ethics to Indian politics, has become the most worthless party now,” said BJP Spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi at party headquarters in New Delhi.

“The Aam Aadmi Party which came with an agenda of establishing morals in the field of politics now has become the most worthless party,” he added.

“Those who speak of experimenting in politics, this is no more the era of experimental politics. India is emerging on the world stage with firmness and intensity to play a new role”, BJP MP alleged.

Talking about the AAP’s leader Sanjay Singh’s arrest, he said, “the Rouse Avenue Court clearly observed that prima facie, the material placed before it nowhere shows that the arrest is unwarranted and unreasonable”.

He said the court in its decision said the reality of the matter will be unveiled after investigation and the evidence that is present as of now seems eligible enough to start an investigation”.

The BJP spokesperson said, “If the policy was right then why did AAP withdraw it after the CBI investigation”.

Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was on Wednesday arrested by the ED in connection with its money laundering probe linked to the 2021-22 Delhi Excise policy case.

The sources in the investigating agency said AAP MP Sanjay Singh, “received crores of rupees” from an accused-turned-approver.

In February 2023, Sisodia was arrested by the CBI for alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of Delhi’s new excise policy. He is currently in judicial custody. The excise policy was withdrawn amid allegations of “foul play” by the Opposition.

AAP leader and former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain was also arrested by the ED under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in May 2022.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the false cases are being fabricated against the opposition leaders to instill fear in them.

“Not just politicians but also businessmen are being targeted. Such an atmosphere of fear is not good for the progress of the country” ,he said.
