The Hague: The International Court of Justice (ICJ) will decide on Friday whether to order emergency measures in South Africa’s case against Israel over alleged genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The verdict will be announced at 1 p.m. (12:00 GMT) at the Peace Palace in The Hague. The ICJ is not expected to rule on the main question of whether Israel is committing genocide in the Palestinian enclave on Friday, but will decide on possible emergency measures to suspend Israel’s military activities in Gaza.

If ordered, the provisional measures may include an immediate ceasefire and an intensified flow of humanitarian aid to the war-torn enclave.
