Kolkata: Ahead of Lok Sabha’s first phase poll beginning on April 19, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday issued transfer orders for non-cadre officers who are posted at leadership positions as District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP) in five states, including West Bengal, official sources said.
The ECI has ordered the immediate transfer of 4 poll-bound districts in West Bengal, including Purba Medinipur, Jhargram, Purba Bardhaman, and Birbhum.
The posts of DMs and SPs in the district are encoded for officers from the Indian Administrative Service and Indian Police Service, respectively.
The Commission recently removed Bengal DGP Rajiv Kumar and appointed 1989 IPS cadre Sanjay Mukherjee as the new DGP.
