14 candidates file nominations for 11 seats in assembly council election

Mumbai: A total of 14 candidates have submitted nominations for the biennial elections for 11 seats of the Maharashtra Legislative Council.

According to the election commission sources, the BJP has nominated Pankaja Munde, Amit Gorkhe, Sadabhau Khot, Yogesh Tilekar, and Parinay Phuke, while the Shiv Sena Shinde group has Krupal Tumane and Bhawana Gawli, and the Nationalist Congress Party has Rajesh Vitekar and Shivajirao Garje.

Congress has renominated Pradyna Satav from the opposition MVA Agadhi constituent party, while the Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray group has given Milind Narvekar a chance.

NCP Sharadchandra Pawar has been declared their supporter by the sitting MLC and PWP leader Jayant Patil.

Also two independents, Ajay Singh Sengar and Arun Jagtap have also filed their nomination.

The deadline for filing nominations is Tuesday, and they will be scrutinized on Wednesday, July 3. Name withdrawals are due on July 5. The election, if necessary, will take place on July 12, with counting starting after polls close.

The winning candidates have a quota of 23, with the BJP having 103 members, NCP-AP having 40, and the Shiv Sena Shinde group having 38.

From the opposition, Congress has 37 MLAs, Shiv Sena (UBT) has 15 and Sharad Pawar-led NCP has 10 MLAs.
