Cairo: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas discussed the inter-Palestinian reconciliation during his recent visit to Moscow, Palestinian Authority State Minister for Foreign Affairs Varsen Aghabekian told Sputnik on Thursday.
She said that during the trip, Abbas discussed “inter-Palestinian reconciliation” and the ways it could be successfully achieved.
“President Abbas’ visit to Moscow was vital for coordinating the situation in the Middle East in general. We highly appreciate the position of the President, the Government and the people of Russia in support of the rights of the Palestinian people in all international forums and efforts to stop the aggression against our people,” Aghabekian added.
In August, Abbas visited Russia and held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Russian leader said that Russia had longstanding and deep relations with the Arab world in general and with Palestine in particular, which Moscow highly values. Abbas, in turn, said that Russia and Palestine are bound by decades of friendship.
