Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly witnessed ruckus on the very first day after the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra proposed the house to pass a resolution against the abrogation of Article 370 on Monday.
Parra speaking in the House after the election of Speaker was conducted, requested the Legislative Assembly to pass a resolution seeking the restoration of Article 370 to Jammu and Kashmir.
“I request the Assembly to pass a resolution for the restoration of Article 370,” Waheed said while also handing over PDP’s resolution to the Speaker.
As the PDP MLA Para was speaking, the BJP legislators stood up and urged the Speaker to expunge Waheed’s words as it was against the rules.
However, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather advised the BJP leaders to leave it to him, saying, “You can’t dictate terms to the Speaker.”
The members exchanged words and created rucks in the house despite the speaker trying to restore the proceedings of the house.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s speaking on the issue said, “He knew that some members would move a resolution adding they were not expecting it to happen on the day one of the session”.
The speaker adjourned the house later for 10 minutes.
