Spices Board warns against illegal cardamom auctions

Kochi: The Spices Board has issued a public notice emphasising that no individual or entity is allowed to operate as an auctioneer or dealer of cardamom without a valid license issued by the Board in accordance with the Cardamom (Licensing and Marketing) Rules, 1987, and the Spices Board Act, 1986.

The Board has reaffirmed that unauthorised cardamom auctions are illegal and will be dealt with strictly as per the relevant regulations.

The licensing system aims to promote transparency and ensure fair practices within the cardamom trade. The Board conducts the cardamom auction through e-auction centres in Puttady, Kerala, and Bodinayakanur, Tamil Nadu, in addition to manual auctions in other states.

Stakeholders are urged to verify the list of authorised auctioneers available on the Spices Board’s official website:http:picesboard.in/public/trader_directory/Traders.php?val=AUC

The notice serves as a warning to the public, as similar violations may have been reported in other regions.
