J&K Police boosts operational efficiency with state-of-the-art dog kennel in Anantnag

Srinagar: In a significant stride in bolstering the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s capabilities in crime detection, search-and-rescue operations, and explosives detection, a state-of-the-art dog kennel facility was inaugurated on Friday in south Kashmir Anantnag district.

The dog kennel facility was inaugurated at District Police Lines Anantnag by Deputy Inspector General South Kashmir range, Javid Iqbal Matoo. He was accompanied by SSP Anantnag, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy at the inaugural function.

Speaking at the inauguration, Matoo highlighted the critical role of well-trained canine units in modern policing. He noted that the facility is designed to provide an optimal environment for training and maintaining Police dogs, thereby improving the operational efficiency of the force.

SSP Anantnag, Chakravarthy, praised the efforts of the Police team in establishing the kennel and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to leveraging advanced tools and techniques to ensure public safety.

The inauguration featured a live demonstration of the skills of the trained canine unit, which was met with widespread appreciation.

A police spokesman said the initiative marks a milestone in strengthening the district’s policing infrastructure and operational readiness.
