Srinagar: Jailed Member of Parliament Engineer Abdul Rashid Sheikh’s son, Abrar Rashid on Monday termed the two-day custody parole to his father as positive development and said that finally the voice of his voters will be raised in the Parliament.

“My father couldn’t attend three parliament sessions. However, he has finally got a chance to raise the issues for which he was voted by over 5 lakh people in the last parliamentary elections,” Abrar said.

He said the people from across North Kashmir will be happy with this development. “I am thankful to all those who raised the voice for my father including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who belatedly expressed his concern after 8-9 days. Now, we appeal to the Central Government to respect the mandate of the people.” he said.

“The hearing for regular bail is scheduled on February 11 and we hope that a favourable decision will be taken in this regard likewise it was taken today,” Abrar added.

He added that the MP from Baramulla constituency should be released in the larger interests of the people, who have voted for him.

Earlier today, the Delhi High Court granted custody parole of 2 days to Awami Ittehad Party chief and Member of Parliament from North Kashmir Er Rashid.
