Punjab: Farmers meet Union and Punjab Ministers, next meeting May 4

Chandigarh: A meeting between representatives of farmer organisations and Union as well as Punjab ministers was held here on Wednesday with the two sides deciding to sit again on May 4.

Union Agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said the meeting concluded positively in a constructive environment and the dialogue will continue.

He said that the next meeting is scheduled for May 4.

The three-hour long meeting was attended by Union minister Prahlad Joshi and Piyush Goyal, besides Chauhan.

From Punjab government side, cabinet ministers Harpal Singh Cheema, Gurmeet Khudian and LC Kataruchak were present.

Farmer leaders Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Sarvan Singh Pandher among others represented farmer organisations.

Notably, Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have been agitating since February last year demanding a law to guarantee Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their produce.
