IMD issues heavy rain alert for many states, forecasts orange alert for Kerala

Kerala: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts heavy rains across several states and issued orange alert for Kerala through August 8.

The IMD issued very light rain and a cloudy sky in Delhi over the next seven days while heavy rain is forecast in Himachal Pradesh through August 6.

Heavy rainfall is forecasted in Jammu and Kashmir from August 4 to 6 and in Himachal Pradesh from August 4 to 6 respectively. While in Uttarakhand, heavy rainfall is expected daily from August 4 to 9 and very heavy rain during August 4 to 5.

The IMD also forecast heavy rainfall in Punjab on August 5 and 9 while very heavy rain in Haryana on August 5. Heavy rainfall is expected on August 8 and 9 in east Rajasthan.

The IMD has issued red alert for Kerala over the next five days. An orange alert has been issued for August 4 to August 7. A yellow warning has been issued for several districts in Kerala and Lakshadweep on different days until August 8.
